Computational Thinking! That was what this module was all about. And what a coincidence because ... that relates so well to the topic I chose for my lesson! Which is: Coding for children. 😁 I must say I am finally starting to understand computational steps and algorithms more clearly after these assignments. It is interesting how this step-by-step problem solving concept is a process that can be applied to both computers and teaching. I think it is a great way to really break down larger ideas or projects and make them more comprehensible and doable.
Finding everyone's favorite color with the Binary Alphabet was fun. I knew that one of the color's that is also a plant was going to be lavender because I loooove lavender and I am obsessed with it so much so that I had my bridesmaids in lavender at my wedding. And I just absoultely love the smell of it, I keep a bag of dry lavender and smell it to relax as odd as that sounds. I also use the lavender essential oil in my diffuser and on mosquito bites, it truly works wonders but enough about that it was nice that some classmates chose unconventional color names. Though I struggled to put them together, took me about 2 hours with the baby interrupting but I was pleased when I finally finished. I'd say it is a fun activity to keep the brain muscle working. I have always enjoyed puzzles.
Adding Computational Thinking to my lesson plan was also fun. It too was like a puzzle, trying to figure out which concepts would fit into my chosen activites. Surprisingly it was not too difficult. Overall, I have to say I have enjoyed everything I am learning in this class and I am thankful to be where I am.
